Students who apply to Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in the annual undergraduate admission process should have a good understanding of how the entrance examination works. The IIT-JEE is held on January 16th and is administered by the Central Board of Secondary Education, a body under Ministry of Human Resource Development.
The IIT-JEE exam consists 2 sections - Paper-I is a 30 multiple choice questions, while Paper-II has 5 sections including an analytical reasoning section, where each correct answer carries one mark.

The candidate's performance in all IIT-JEE exams - Paper-I, Paper-II and Paper-III needs to be valid for a period of 3 years before applying for admission into any IIIT.
The performance under Paper III has to be valid for 5 years before applying to apply for admission into IITs.
