Amazon's plan to acquire catamaran stake in prione violates FDI policy: CAIT

Recently Amazon has announced plans to purchase a 49% stake in the Spanish shipbuilder Prione, despite a government ban on its carrying out of such projects. 

However, this move has been criticised by the Catalan Solidarity for All (CAIT), as it is against EU rules prohibiting foreign investment in some sectors. 

Sharing these views and voicing discontent with this move are various other organisations like UGT and Barcelona en Comú. This opposition comes from the sudden restriction of competition that would be triggered by this merger which would end-up benefiting both companies through price hikes and lowered staff wages.
