Inetum, the global IT services provider headquartered in Singapore, announced to its customers that it was hit by a ransomware attack on 23 April. However to date, there has been no evidence of any data breach at the company. The company said it will share more information once investigations are completed.
The announcement followed an email sent to customers by Inetum CEO Jenette Ho, which said: "We would like to inform you that we were affected by a ransomware attack on Monday 23 April at 4pm. We have managed to contain and identify the attack and remediate all infected computers within 24 hours. We would like to assure you that no data was compromised."
Inetum said its forensic analysis revealed that a single server was infected with a Trojan horse virus, which encrypted files on the affected server. The firm then quarantined the server and set up a decryption workstation.
